The Chinese Super League club Shanghai Shenhua have confirmed the completed contract between them and Carlos Tevez, this deal makes the former Manchester City striker the current world’s highest paid player.
The Argentina citizen Carlos Tevez will reportedly earn around £610,000 a week, with the club paying Boca Juniors £9m for his services.
Within this past few years, Chinese clubs have spent much to attract mainly South American stars. Just last week, Shenhua’s city rival Shanghai SIPG signed Oscar from Chelsea for £60m.
Shenhua struggled to finish fourth in their last season league, with 16 points behind the champions Guangzhou Evergrande Taobao.
Last year Carlos Tevez was re-united with his childhood club Boca and he scored 25 goals in 56 games.
The Buenos Aires club in a message said: “Good luck Carlitos. You will always be in our hearts.”
He joins two former Premier League strikers at Shenhua, which are Demba Ba and the Nigerian Obafemi Martins and he will be coached by former Chelsea star Gus Poyet, who was appointed boss recently.
The statement on the club’s website read: “Shanghai Greenland Shenhua FC reached a transfer agreement with Argentina Club Atletico Boca Juniors. Carlos Tevez is officially joined Shanghai Shenhua.”
The 32, played for Corinthians, West Ham, Manchester United, Manchester City and Juventus, before joining his country’s local league.
Stars that might be joining the Chinese clubs include the Brazilians Hulk, Ramires and Paulinho, the Colombian striker Jackson Martinez and Argentine forward Ezequiel Lavezzi.
